JUNE  2012 ISSUE

NEVER A DULL MOMENT! 
Moving office, moving house, getting internet access, making product printing labels,  hassles with chemical companies, swamped with orders while running out of product etc etc.   Apologies to those people who had to wait longer than usual for shipment. However, by the end of July we should be fully stocked with hundreds of gallons of SEA GLOW™ and at least a year or two supply of our resin-based boat care coatings (ELIXIR™, MIRROR HARD™ etc) AND plans for our own boat detailing business.

With plenty of SEAGLOW™ available we can finally satisfy all those people who wanted to be authorized internet resellers. We will be contacting them shortly!


NOVEMBER 2011 ISSUE

SEA GLOW™ :
Another record-setting year. In fact, demand has been so high that there are "pirates" who are buying larger bottles and transferring to unmarked small bottles and selling them on E-Bay without our instructions, safety precautions or liability. There is also what appears to be fake product in bottles with fake "SEA GLOW" labels. We have contacted eBay to take them off their listing.

Unauthorized Resellers: One such "customer" bought almost $1.000 of product from us with a stolen American Express Card so that the credit card company took back the money from our bank account and that stolen product is now out there being resold! For this reason we are posting which of our online resellers are authorized by us. They must follow our rules, use OUR packaged product and will be listed on OUR website (on the "Dealers and Detailers" page (CLICK HERE). In exchange we will support them but they must obtain a reseller's license and pay appropriate sales taxes.


Resin-based Boat-care products: The severe economic downturn of 2008-2009 has resulted in smaller wholesalers of our raw materials having to cut back on inventory and discontinue some items. To counter this (and because knowledge of our superior products is "going viral" we have successfully tested formulae with substitute ingredients while in the short term, buying back some of the finished product from Aurora Glass Fiber in New Zealand. Thus, we managed to get through the 2011 boating season while making plans (and raising capital for) the upcoming 2012 season.


JULY/AUGUST 2010 ISSUE

Well, we have survived and our sales volume is up 30% compared to last year, due in large part, to demand for our SEA GLOW™ product.

Supplies of Product:
Toward the end of last year we actually had some customers waiting almost 2 months for SEA GLOW™ because we had completely run out. The pent up demand was so large that when we finally got product at the end of the year we were swamped with orders, even over Christmas!

Now we are facing a similar dilemma over our resin-based products. Some articles in Practical Sailor (at last!) and "word of mouth" from customers who have used our products for years- even on NEW boats has resulted in pent-up demand and again we are out of product, due to our supplier running out of some some key ingredients. WE SHOULD GET THEM early September.

Website Changes:
Our present website is in the process of being updated, especially the ordering page. Previously, we received online order forms, even those with errors (incorrect or declined credit card numbers etc) and then we had to enter the sales by hand on a terminal. THEN, we had to key in the mailing addresses, make invoices etc - perhaps all of this work a single bottle of product!

The NEW E-COMMERCE SYSTEM , using enstore.com is coupled directly to our accounting software so that we only see paid for credit card purchases and the address list, invoices etc are generated directly from the online data. Paypal is also available for those without regular credit cards. NOW all we have to do is pack the boxes - a tremendous saving in manpower and the hassle of calling or e-mailing people with incorrect ordering information. This new system should be online and working during Before Oct 1st, 2010.  This new ordering page can still be used for "call in" or mailed payments.

Other changes in the works will include embedded  You-Tube and Quicktime  video.

JUNE 2009 SPRING/SUMMER ISSUE

We are just emerging from a most difficult time.  On December 16th 2008, my house was burnt and the interior completely gutted.  As a consequence, our office was out of action for about 5 weeks, until State Farm Insurance (who were great) put us into a rental property, where we stayed for over 4 months, until relocating back to the refurbished house. All of this coincided with the world "economic meltdown" that made life very difficult through dried up credit. Although there was some computer damage and loss of data, we survived.
while our office contents were only slightly damaged.  We also found that our products could survive and still work,  even when when the plastic containers were partially melted!

Many thanks to the "Sea Glow™/Shoe customers" who found a way to use the product with indoor lighting and kept us going through the Winter into the Spring boating season. We managed to replace our diminished stock of Elixir, Mirror Hard Superglaze™ etc. Now our main worry is financing the manufacture of another large batch of Sea Glow™since supplies are running out fast and demand is STILL increasing due to electronic "word of mouth" on various website discussion boards.


JUNE 2008- DECEMBER 2008

A weird year!  Early in the year, we had moved our packaging and shipping operations completely to Hawaii, greatly reducing our overhead expenses and giving us better control over inventory and shipping times. We had made plans (and paid the deposit) for a completely automated production of IGP in California, prior to infomercial pilots.  In addition, we were having our best sales year yet,  having  already reached the annual sales figure for the preceding year - then "Boom". The stock market crashed and our sales started sputtering, However we vowed to be undeterred and use the time to update website, movies etc. Then the house burnt down (see above)

Mrs. Jantina B. Willis
   


Dr. Anthony L. Willis is very sad to relate that his wife  passed away on February  27th 2007.  There was a home Memorial Service in Kailua (Oahu) HI, following her cre
mation in Honolulu and the ashes were interred on April 12th near her birthplace at Marazion, Cornwall England.  On May 27th 2007 Dr. and Mrs. Willis would have been married for 38 years.

In 1995, Mrs. Willis was a Co-founder with Dr. Willis of ISLAND GIRL® Products.   Until her Stroke in 2004 and severe diabetes-related illnesses following a broken hip in 2006, she was instrumental in running several aspects of the company, including acting as a Director and CFO as well as coming up with several product name ideas and assisting at Boat Shows.  An online movie tribute to Mrs Willis's early life can be seen by clicking on the linked picture.
